South Memphis has been rocked by a series of shootings that occurred late Monday night, leaving multiple victims critically injured and the community reeling for answers. At approximately 11:30 p.m., a woman suffered serious injuries from a gunshot wound at a gas station in the 500 block of South Parkway East, as reported by Local Memphis. Officials have said she was taken to Regional One Health in critical condition, though no information about a suspect was released.
Shortly after this incident, a separate but equally alarming event unfolded when a woman was carjacked and shot three times while pumping gas. According to FOX13 Memphis, the assault occurred just before 11:45 p.m. at the BP gas station on South Parkway East. It was reported that the perpetrators, three men with rifles, carjacked the victim's Nissan Altima after exiting from a dark-colored Infiniti. The carjacking left the victim critically wounded and Memphis Police Department investigators found 14 spent shell casings at the scene. The woman shot was transported to a hospital in a critical condition.
Earlier in the evening, a shooting was reported in the 700 block of Edith Avenue at around 10:26 p.m. Although initially no injured parties were found at the location, two victims were discovered to have self-transported to Regional One Health, both listed as critical when they finally received medical attention.
