
Seven individuals were taken into custody, and a significant cache of firearms and narcotics was seized from a short-term rental property on Napoleon Street on Wednesday, an operation carried out by North Precinct officers supported by Specialized Investigations detectives. This initiative is a response to community concerns, highlighting the ongoing issue of drugs and illegal firearms in the area.
According to the Metro Nashville Police Department, upon executing a search warrant, officers quickly managed to swiftly apprehend seven suspects on the premises. Among them, a convicted felon identified as John Topaco, 24, attempted to flee but was quickly captured after a short foot chase. It was discovered he had tried to quickly discard a backpack containing a small arsenal of drugs including marijuana, methamphetamine, cocaine, heroin, mushrooms, pills, and cash, alongside a Glock 27 pistol.
The search of the property yielded six firearms, including a Draco pistol, a Glock 39 pistol, Glock 29 pistol. Found in the possession of a 16-year-old girl were a Glock 30 pistol and a stolen Glock 17 pistol. The individuals arrested, as detailed in the police report are Vivian Tran (21), Acuma Juma (23), Kordell Marquzz Parson (18), Amiya Powell (23), Jeremiah Wheeler-Yarbrough (18), in addition to Topaco and juvenile female whose name was not released due to her age.
All seven individuals are now facing charges related to the possession of drugs and firearms. Several types of narcotics were discovered on the property, indicating a broad spectrum of illegal drug activities. Topaco was additionally charged with evading arrest. These events serve to remind the community of the persistent challenges posed by drug trafficking and gun violence, and the efforts of law enforcement to effectively address them.
