Smith-Gilbert Gardens is offering a serene respite this summer for both butterfly enthusiasts and nature lovers alike. The "A Garden with Wings Butterfly Exhibit" is now open, providing visitors with the unique experience of observing the fascinating life cycle of butterflies. Available through August 3, the exhibit features these winged creatures in various stages—from egg to the majestic adult butterfly—amidst the greenery of the garden.
The exhibit launched on June 1 with the "Pollinator Palooza," an event highlighting the symbiotic relationship between pollinators and the plants they frequent. For the optimal butterfly-spotting experience, the Gardens spotlight plants such as the tulips poplar and the passionflower vine, which are known to attract caterpillars. A Garden with Wings is open from Tuesday to Saturday, 9 AM to 4 PM starting June 1, as published on their event page.
For members of Smith-Gilbert Gardens, the exhibit comes at no additional cost. Non-members, however, will need to secure tickets for $3 each, along with Garden Admission fees. The Gardens encourage future attendees to purchase their tickets online in advance, although an in-person option is available at the Gardens Gift Shop.
