The Somerset Police Department is actively seeking information to identify the driver involved in a Home Depot shoplifting incident. The shoplifting took place on an unspecified date, and while the person who committed the theft has been identified thanks to what police describe as good investigative work, the getaway driver remains at large. According to a Facebook post by the Somerset PD, the suspect was confronted by Loss Prevention but managed to escape, and was subsequently picked up by another individual driving a small U-Haul truck.
The U-Haul vehicle led officers on a brief chase before disappearing into the Brightman Street area in Fall River. The vehicle was later located, abandoned. The identity of the shoplifter has since been uncovered, but the driver who facilitated the escape is yet to be named. Somerset PD is reaching out to the community for assistance in this regard. The male suspect driving the U-Haul has a distinct large cross tattoo on his right ankle, which is visible in the pictures provided by the department.
Authorities have urged anyone with information to step forward, especially those who can identify the man shown in connection with this crime. "Please contact Officer William Goodale if you know the identity of the male in the pics," as stated by the Somerset PD. This appeal to the public is part of concerted efforts not just to penalize but also to deter what appears to be a continuing trend of retail thefts in the area.
As the local community contends with a spate of such brazen thefts, the police emphasize the importance of recognizing and reporting suspicious activity. They hope that with public cooperation, they can apprehend the remaining culprit linked to the Home Depot shoplifting case. For those wishing to share anonymous tips, the Somerset Police Department has assured confidentiality in their ongoing investigation.
