Early this morning, Boston Police Department officers responded to a breaking and entering report in Roxbury. According to the BPD's Community Alert Update, at around 2:02 AM, officers from District B-2 arrested Cheval Holmes, 54, from Dorchester after a radio call drew them to the vicinity of Blue Hill Ave. and Edgewood St.

Upon arrival, officers were met with a broken window and a call description matching the suspect, who had entered the building. During the search, they discovered Holmes inside a trailer, along with various tools commonly used in burglaries. Arrested on the spot, Holmes had multiple active warrants against him.

The arrest subsequently allowed B-2 detectives to connect Holmes to another incident. He was identified in connection with a previous break-in that occurred on Sunday, June 23, near 65 Norfolk St in Dorchester. In total, Holmes is facing a litany of charges, including five counts of breaking and entering a vehicle and/or boat during the nighttime, three counts of building break-ins at nighttime, as well as breaking and entering during the daytime, larceny, attempted larceny, and trespassing. He was also found in possession of Class B drugs.

In relation to his latest arrest, Holmes now faces additional charges including breaking and entering a building during the nighttime, possession of burglary tools, trespassing, and possession of Class B drugs subsequent offense. An arraignment is scheduled where he will answer to these and the earlier warrants at Roxbury District Court.
