Early in the morning of June 8, a tense situation unfolded at a local McDonald’s on Main St. in Worcester when a man, wielding a knife, reportedly threatened customers and employees. According to a press release provided by the Worcester Police Department, the incident occurred around 3:20 AM and escalated to a point where the suspect allegedly chased an individual with the knife in hand.
Responding to the frantic call for help, Worcester Police officers arrived to find 31-year-old Raoul Slavin of Worcester, identified as the suspect. Slavin allegedly defied officers’ commands to stop and led them on a brief foot pursuit before being apprehended. During the arrest, a knife was recovered from Slavin's pocket, confirming the threat he posed moments earlier.
The subsequent investigation by authorities pieced together a narrative in which Mr. Slavin had aggressively brandished a knife towards the McDonald’s staff. When he noticed the employees reaching out to law enforcement, he exited and pursued someone outside the establishment. The nature of the threat led police to charge Mr. Slavin with two counts of Assault with a Dangerous Weapon (Knife) and Disorderly Conduct.
Worcester Police have not yet released details on what might have prompted Slavin’s actions or if he had any connection to the individuals he threatened. The situation has left the community on edge, questioning the safety of their late-night food establishments. Such incidents cast a shadow over the haven that these spaces provide for the town’s weary and hungry residents. The case remains under review, with the police urging any witnesses or individuals with information to step forward.
