
In an early morning burst of violence in Humboldt Park on Chicago’s West Side, six individuals, including a 15-year-old girl, were shot near a gas station on the 900 block of North Pulaski Road. According to the Chicago Tribune, the shootings occurred around 12:45 A.M., as responding officers discovered multiple victims with gunshot wounds.
The young girl suffered a severe injury with a gunshot wound to the neck and was rushed to Stroger Hospital in serious condition. Amid the chaos, an 18-year-old female and a 19-year-old female were both also shot and transported to Mount Sinai Hospital, reported to be in fair condition. Complementing these reports, CBS Chicago notes that a clerk at the gas station witnessed what he believed to be a party, attracting hundreds to the block before gunshots erupted.
Additionally, two men, ages 25 and 35, received injuries and were taken to local hospitals. Their wounds were not considered life-threatening. A 33-year-old woman also suffered a broken ankle amid the incident and was taken to St. Mary’s Hospital in fair condition. Investigation into the shooting is active, with detectives piecing together the events that unfolded during these pre-dawn hours.
The suspected assailant was last seen fleeing on foot from the site of the shooting, and no arrests have been yet made. Area Four Detectives are continuing their investigation into the incident, seeking to understand the motive behind the shooting and to identify the perpetrator responsible for the violence.
