The missing person case of Apolinar "Polo" Saldierna, 54, is now entwined with a homicide investigation in Robertson County. Polo, a resident of Springfield, was reported missing on June 12 after not being seen since June 7. Compounding concerns, Polo's roommate, Carlos Camaja, 24, was found dead on June 11 near the Kentucky/Tennessee state line. According to WSMV, Camaja's body was discovered dumped next to railroad tracks, and his death has been ruled a homicide.
Carl Camaja is believed to have been shot to death before his body was transported to the area it was found. Two suspects, Camaja’s girlfriend, 48-year-old Celia Ramirez-Hernandez, and her son, 34-year-old Misael Cruz-Hernandez, were arrested and charged with his murder on June 24. Information surrounding the case is still unfolding as Polo remains missing. In a request for public assistance, anyone with knowledge of Polo’s whereabouts is encouraged to contact authorities at 615-384-8422.
An ongoing investigation led by the Robertson County Sheriff’s Office and the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation resulted in the apprehension of the two suspects now charged with criminal homicide, criminal simulation, and fabricating/tampering with evidence. "Evidence collected during the execution of search warrants led to the arrest," as per a report by The Connection. They are being held at the Robertson County Detention Center without bond.
Noemi Gonzalez, Polo's partner, expressed concern to NewsChannel5, after Polo uncharacteristically missed work and did not respond to calls. "He was so sweet and that's what made him so special because people loved him at work," she said. In a possibly related development, Polo's red Chevy Silverado was recently located abandoned in the Antioch area—an area he was not known to frequent. The Robertson County Sheriff's Office has made no arrests in Polo’s case, though a reward is offered for information leading to his whereabouts.
A rallying cry for community awareness was heard at J. Travis Price Park on June 23, as residents gathered to spread the word about Polo's disappearance. The family and authorities plea for anyone with relevant information to step forward. Contacts for tips include the family at 615-973-4969 or the Sheriff's Office at 615-384-7971.
