In Warren, Michigan, a young man in his twenties was critically injured after a piece of heavy machinery fell on him during what is described as an "industrial accident." This incident took place at DPR Manufacturing on Mound Road around 2 p.m. on Friday, June 7, according to a statement from the Warren Fire Department received by WWJ Newsradio. Employees at the scene managed to remove the machinery from the individual before the arrival of the rescue crews, said the fire department.
Upon their arrival, the Warren Fire Department found the man in cardiac arrest with life-threatening injuries. Despite the quick action of his coworkers, the gravity of the situation was immediate and dire, with the emergency crews initiating advanced life support procedures which included CPR and the insertion of an IV. "They performed life advanced life support procedures, including starting an I.V. and performing CPR," reported ClickOnDetroit.
The individual was quickly transported to Ascension Macomb Oakland Hospital in a Priority 1 response, signifying the highest level of urgency with lights and sirens. While the Warren Fire Department has chosen not to release additional details regarding the patient's condition due to privacy concerns, the severity of the incident has been underscored by all accounts shared thus far.
In their brief concerning the incident, the Warren Fire Department refrained from speculation about the cause of the accident, and a representative from DPR Manufacturing did not immediately respond to a request for comment. According to their online description, DPR Manufacturing is a family-owned, custom fabrication company specializing in steel, stainless steel, and aluminum products. "An employee of custom fabrication company in Warren sustained life-threating injuries Friday after heavy machinery fell on him," The Detroit News stated, underscoring the serious nature of the accident within the context of the manufacturing industry.
