
A fatal collision in Cambridge claimed the life of a female bicyclist after an encounter with a box truck, according to a press release from the Middlesex District Attorney's Office. The crash, involving a 55-year-old Florida woman and a box truck driver, occurred near the intersection of DeWolfe and Mt. Auburn streets around 4:30 p.m. on June 7th., officials reported.
The preliminary findings of the authorities point to both the bicycle and the box truck heading down Mt Auburn Street, before the truck attempted a turn onto DeWolfe Street at which point the collision happened, the details surrounding the exact dynamics of the crash have yet to be fully uncovered but the truck driver stayed on the scene, and the woman was swiftly transported to CHA Cambridge Hospital where she was sadly pronounced dead. Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan and Cambridge Police Commissioner Christine Elow have announced that the situation is being actively investigated by the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office, Cambridge Police Department, and the Massachusetts State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section.
As of now, no charges have been filed. The truck operator, whose identity hasn't been made public is cooperating with investigators and no further details about the victim have been released aside from her place of origin.
