Tragedy struck Chicago's West Elsdon neighborhood on Monday afternoon as gun violence claimed the life of a young man and left two teenagers injured. The Chicago Police Department responded to a 911 call at approximately 3:56 p.m. and discovered two teens with gunshot wounds on the 5300 block of South Pulaski Road, according to the Chicago Sun-Times. A 16-year-old boy was critically injured with wounds to the buttocks and abdomen, whilst the other, a 15-year-old, was in fair condition following sustaining shots to the legs.

Both youths were quickly transported to local hospitals, with the 16-year-old being taken to Christ Hospital and the 15-year-old to Stroger Hospital. Meanwhile, a third victim, now identified as 19-year-old Enrique Rodriguez, made his own attempt to arrive at Holy Cross Hospital with a torso gunshot wound. Despite the urgency, Rodriguez was pronounced dead shortly after his admission, at 4:42 p.m. The Cook County medical examiner's office confirmed the identity and time of death of the deceased, reported the Chicago Tribune.

The investigation into the shooting is ongoing as detectives work to piece together the circumstances that led to the violence. At present, no suspects are in custody and the department has not released any additional details regarding potential leads or motives behind this incident.
