Metropolitan Police have reported a prompt arrest following two attempted robberies that took place in the early hours of Sunday in the busy Northeast corridor of the city. Specifics of the event detail a young suspect initiating precarious confrontations with potential victims, both of whom managed to escape unharmed.
A little past midnight, near 18th Street and Benning Road, Northeast, an individual was accosted by a suspect who suggested possession of a firearm. Fortunately, the target of this threat chose to flee and avoided becoming a victim of theft—leaving the scene untouched and their property intact. Shortly thereafter, a second similar incident unfolded in the 1300 block of H Street, Northeast, with an outcome mirroring the first: no loss befell the victim.
Law enforcement's response to these incidents was swift, leading to the apprehension of the suspect nearby. As a result of investigative work by the detectives assigned to the case, 18-year-old Keshon Malik Wells of Northeast was arrested. He now faces charges including the Attempt to Commit Robbery, as noted in a statement from the Metropolitan Police Department.
