An 18-year-old is facing charges following a fatal hit-and-run accident involving a pedestrian in Nashville. The incident, which took place near Murfreesboro Pike and Ransom Place, occurred Saturday night shortly before 11 p.m. Metro Nashville Police Department (MNPD) reports that the pedestrian, a man believed to be in his 30s, was pronounced dead at a local hospital after being struck by two vehicles, as reported by WSMV.

The sequence of events, as outlined by authorities, began with the pedestrian being hit by a Ford Explorer, and subsequently by a Hyundai Elantra. While the Elantra's driver stopped to cooperate with officers, the driver of the Explorer left the scene, according to FOX17. Later, the sister of the Explorer's driver contacted police to report that her brother had admitted to hitting someone.

During an interview with MNPD, Christian Barajas-Bautista confirmed his involvement, acknowledging he was behind the wheel of the Explorer when the pedestrian was hit. The vehicle, which had damage consistent with the collision, was impounded by police. Although Barajas-Bautista has been cited for driving without a license, authorities indicated that additional charges are forthcoming after a complete investigation, including a speed analysis is conducted, as WKRN reported.

No charges are anticipated against the driver of the Elantra, who remained at the scene and provided a statement to police.
