
An 18-year-old man fell victim to a nighttime robbery that escalated to gunfire on Sunday in Chicago's Hyde Park neighborhood. Per the Chicago Sun-Times, the incident occurred around 9:15 p.m. on the 1400 block of East 57th Street when the man was accosted by four individuals who emerged from a white car.
The suspects, after leaving their vehicle, proceeded to rob the young man. Following the robbery, as reported by FOX 32 Chicago, they inflicted a gunshot wound to his knee before fleeing back to the car. Escaping, they left the injured man behind without yet having anyone taken into custody for the crime.
Subsequently, the victim was admitted to the University of Chicago Medical Center. It was there that he was declared to be in good condition. The specifics of the stolen items have not been disclosed.
Investigators from Area One are currently looking into the matter, as there have been no arrests made at this point. The search for the four males and the white sedan involved in the attack continues. Should anyone have any information regarding the incident, they are encouraged to come forward and assist the Chicago Police Department in their ongoing investigation.
