
A 21-year-old man has been charged with a felony count of aggravated vehicular hijacking with a firearm in Chicago. Craig Williams, who resides on the 2600 block of E. 77th St., was apprehended by the police yesterday, July 25, in relation to an incident where a 58-year-old woman was carjacked at gunpoint.
According to the Chicago Police Department's release, Williams' arrest was the result of the Vehicular Hijacking Task Force's investigation into the June 12 offense, which occurred on the 400 block of E. 81st St. in the city's 6th District. The victim was confronted by individuals, one of whom is believed to be Williams, who utilized a firearm to coerce her into surrendering her vehicle.
Williams is set to have a detention hearing today, July 26, at the courthouse at 2600 S. California. Details surrounding the circumstances of the arrest or information about possible accomplices have not been made public at this time.
