
An argument between two adults in Southwest Miami-Dade escalated into gunfire this past Saturday night, leaving a 4-year-old boy in critical but stable condition. The incident occurred shortly before 9 p.m. in the 1200 block of SW 127 Court, according to CBS News Miami. Miami-Dade Police report that the boy was inside the house next to where the argument took place when he was struck by a stray bullet. The two adults involved in the dispute fled the scene and are currently being sought by authorities.
Police detail that the confrontation started around 8:45 p.m. between two men. One of the individuals involved pulled a gun and fired, missing his target but hitting the child next door. "Someone had a firearm and was acting reckless and could’ve cost a child’s life," Miami-Dade Police Det. Luis Sierra told media, as reported by the Miami Herald. The event comes just six days after a separate tragedy, where a 3-year-old boy was fatally shot during a drive-by shooting at a birthday party in Fort Lauderdale park.
The injured child was rushed to a nearby hospital where he remains in critical condition. As of now, there is no available description of the suspects. Miami-Dade Police Department are urging anyone with information about the shooting to contact Crimestoppers immediately.
