
A serious car collision in Carlisle, Massachusetts has left a 6-year-old boy critically injured and airlifted to a Boston hospital. The accident occurred at the intersection of North Road and Rutland Street shortly before 7:30 p.m. last night. According to NBC Boston, the boy was ejected from his mother's vehicle following the impact of the two-vehicle crash.
Carlisle Police were quick to arrive at the scene, where multiple 911 calls had reported accident. All occupants of the vehicles received treatment at the location, as mentioned by Boston 25 News. The child was then transported via MedFlight to Boston Children's Hospital, where he is currently in critical condition.
Witnesses at the scene told authorities that one of the vehicles was seen traveling at a high speed right before the crash. Reflecting the gravity of the situation, the Carlisle Police Department issued a statement, requesting the community's solidarity. "At this time, we ask the public to keep all injured in their thoughts and prayers, including that little boy who is currently in critical condition," said a police spokesperson in a statement obtained by NBC Boston.
The investigation into the cause of the crash is ongoing. Carlisle Police have not disclosed the number of injured nor whether charges will be filed.
