Jet-setting foodies flying out of San Francisco Bay Oakland International Airport (OAK) can now indulge in a taste of the local culinary scene without leaving Terminal 1. The renowned Bay Area restaurant A16 has just opened its doors to travelers, bringing a menu that promises to deliver the same accolade-laden Italian cuisine that its streetside counterparts in Oakland and San Francisco are known for. The opening of A16 marks a significant milestone as the twelfth new eatery to join OAK's revamped Food and Beverage Program, a move that's been met with enthusiasm by both the airport and diners alike, according to the Port of Oakland.
"We are thrilled to unveil this twelfth addition to OAK’s new Food and Beverage Program with the opening of A16 in Terminal 1," said Craig Simon, Director of Aviation at the Port of Oakland. Offering a straightforward Italian menu that caters to the entire family, A16 serves everything from expertly crafted coffees to freshly prepared pizzas, ensuring that passengers are well taken care of, whether after their taste buds yearn for a robust meal or a quick caffeine fix, as per the Port of Oakland.
The venture into OAK is a strategic one for A16, showcasing local ingredients in their paninis, salads, and even breakfast sandwiches. With the airport bustling with travelers at all hours, A16 caters to those in a hurry with a selection of grab-and-go items freshly prepared onsite, including paninis, salads, and healthy snacks. Ensuring their patrons' needs are met, the restaurant also features a comprehensive beverage program thanks to a partnership with Equator Coffee Roasters and an array of draft beers and wines sourced from Northern California.
Adding to the experience, A16 at OAK has been adorned with two murals created by Ferris Plock in collaboration with Kelly Tunstall, both long-standing A16 collaborators and local artists who are no strangers to the brand. A16 will operate from 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM through Saturday, after which the restaurant will operate regular hours of operation from 4:30 AM to 11:00 PM. A16 is located in Terminal 1 adjacent to the Escape Lounge and Gate 8A.
