Residents of Apache Junction have a chance to declutter without dipping into their pockets, as the city announces its annual Free Dump Week. From August 5-10, locals can drop off a truck bed-sized load of trash at the landfill, at no charge. This community initiative is made possible through a partnership with Republic Services, working together to help keep the town tidy and environmentally sound.
People looking to lighten their homes of waste need to bring proof of residency, such as a water bill, to participate. Hard hats and vests are mandatory for safety at the landfill, and although you can bring your own, they are also available for purchase on-site for less than $15. The landfill will operate from 6:00 A.M. to 4:00 P.M., Monday through Saturday to accommodate the influx of community members taking advantage of this service.
Located at 4050 S Tomahawk Rd, the Apache Junction landfill invites residents to take an active role in the management and care for their environment. Discarding unwanted items responsibly is a collective duty, and facilities like these make it accessible for individuals to contribute positively to the larger ecological picture.
"This is an excellent opportunity to clean up your space and contribute to the preservation of our environment," the city stated in a release. Further inquiries can be handled through the contact number provided for this event, (602) 237-2078.
