In Apple Valley, the sight of rusted car husks and dismembered vehicles adorning driveways and yards might soon be a memory of the past. A new city ordinance is clamping down on the storage of abandoned and junk vehicles on private property. If your ride's missing essential bits like the engine, drive train, or wheels – it's officially junk. Also, don't forget, all vehicles need to have up-to-date registration tags clearly displayed.
According to the city's new regulations, a tarped-over car lingering in your driveway could net you a violation if it's not roadworthy. The City of Apple Valley's announcement details the need for such vehicles, whether they're on commercial or residential turf, to be tucked away inside an enclosed space. The ordinance spells out that property owners and managers have the right to remove these vehicles without the owner's nod.
For those with a knack for vehicular resurrection, repairs can still be made at home. But keep it to small fixes unless you're working within the confines of a garage. The city draws the line at major painting gigs and extensive bodywork too. They've classified services into 'major' and 'minor' automobile repair, so there's no confusion about what's acceptable.
Reports of neighborhood eyesores and questions regarding the new guidelines can be directed to the Apple Valley Code Enforcement. They're reachable by phone at 952.953.2570, or via email at [email protected]. Their team is on standby to assist residents, or to take note of any vehicle-related complaints that might crop up in the community.
