Sunrise Park Resort is poised to set hearts racing with the debut of their new alpine coaster, the Sunrise Apache Alpine Coaster. Kicking off just one day shy of July 21, this fresh attraction is set to offer an exhilarating experience amid the natural splendors of Greer, Arizona. According to a news release sent to ABC15, Sunrise Park Resort will mark the occasion tomorrow, staking a claim as the first tribal-owned ride of its kind, and only the second in the region to get your adrenal glands acquainted with nature-infused thrill.
Being no stranger to setting benchmarks, General Manager Todd Clarke said, "Sunrise is thrilled to become the first tribal entity with a thrill ride of this nature. Being only the second in the region, the coaster will be an experience for families from across Arizona, New Mexico, and beyond to enjoy." Despite originally scheduling to open on Memorial Day weekend, the track will entertain its first riders this Saturday. The coaster snakes through 3,287 feet of track, promising year-round adventure designed by Wiegand, where the heart of nature is the canvas for speed and excitement – with a control stick in the hands of the rider to adjust speeds up to 25 mph, according to 12News.
What distinguishes the Sunrise Apache Alpine Coaster from your garden-variety roller coaster is the 'rider-controlled speed' feature, offering a customized thrill level that caps at a breeze-flirting 25 miles per hour. Tyler Shultz, the marketing director of Sunrise Park Resort, pointed out in an interview with ABC15 that the carts include an advanced safety system. "We have a braking system that if carts get too close together to each other, the cart in the back will [slow] down to match the speed of the one in front. So, you never have to worry about hitting a rider in front of you or anything as you're riding down," Shultz told ABC15.
For those plotting a visit to test out this new adrenaline-fuelling machine, Sunrise Park Resort obliges guests with some prerequisites: riders must be at least 54" tall, while passengers need to reach the 38" mark. They've also set a maximum weight of 330lbs on wet tracks and 375lbs when dry to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone. Located at 200 Highway 273 in Greer, Arizona, the resort extends an invitation to those seeking a fusion of thrills and nature to buckle up for a landscape-hugging adventure unlike any other in the state.
