
DeKalb County and Atlanta law enforcement agencies, in a decisive movement against gang-related crimes, have recently conducted impressive crackdown operations, resulting in numerous arrests and seizures. FOX 5 Atlanta reports that 'Operation Overwatch' kicked off at the start of this year and has since culminated in 84 felony arrests, along with seven misdemeanor arrests. As part of the same campaign, officers also confiscated a considerable haul of 51 firearms, including machine guns and stolen weapons, as well as a variety of drugs and a stolen vehicle.
Simultaneously, a more focused strike called 'Operation Spring Forward' took place on April 4, which saw the Atlanta Police Department apprehend 17 individuals and retrieve 16 firearms, among them several altered to fire automatically—a serious legal infraction. According to Hoodline, this operation not only resulted in arrests but also uncovered a stash of illegal narcotics, indicating a broader sweep of the city’s drug proliferation.
The operation that transpired in DeKalb County, reported concurrently by FOX 5 Atlanta and Hoodline, led to 20 additional arrests. Law enforcement discovered 20 firearms, including machine guns, and a considerable volume of illegal substances in a Lithonia house, which appeared to serve as a center for drug distribution and violent criminal activities.
