Tragedy struck late Thursday night in Austin on the West Side of Chicago, where a shooting left one woman dead and another wounded. According to the Chicago Sun-Times, the incident occurred around 11:50 P.M. in the 900 block of North Leclaire Avenue.
The victims, ages 59 and 29, were struck by gunfire with the older woman succumbing to injuries to her hip, and head after being rushed to Stroger Hospital, the Sun-Times reports. The younger woman sustained a shot to the torso and is reportedly in fair condition at the same hospital. After the shots were fired, the suspect escaped a dark-colored vehicle, with no arrests having been made in the immediate aftermath.
In a parallel account detailing the horrific scene, the Chicago Tribune informs that an additional woman, believed to be in her 40s, was also a victim of the shooting incident. She was transported to the hospital in critical condition with wounds to her hip, and her head.
