In its latest move to encourage recycling and sustainability, Avondale has kicked off a new drop-off recycling initiative. The service, positioned at the Civic Center Library Parking Lot, 11350 W. Civic Center Dr., Avondale, AZ 85323, became a reality through a $64,000 grant from the Arizona Department of Environmental Quality (ADEQ), according to the City of Avondale.
This center is tailored to recycle a wide array of materials, including plastics labeled #1-5, steel, tin, aluminum, cardboard, paper, and glass, as detailed by the City of Avondale. Residents are advised, however, to flatten cardboard boxes and remove non-recyclables like Styrofoam and packing peanuts before drop-off.
As urged by city officials, and by Arizona’s legal framework, the public needs to deposit recyclables within designated bins only. Within the "Recycling Drop-Off Program | City of Avondale" webpage, leaving items outside is not only illegal per Arizona Revised Statute Section 13-1603, but it undermines the cleanliness and safety of the site, which is under 24-hour video surveillance, as per the City of Avondale.
For those interested in further details or looking for guidelines on what can be recycled, additional information is available on the city’s official site.
