A somber discovery was made at Normandy Lake on Sunday when the Tennessee Wildlife Resource Agency and the Coffee County Sheriff’s Department recovered a body. Officials were summoned to the Fire Lake section of the lake around 4 p.m. following the sighting of a corpse floating on the waters, as detailed by WSMV.
While the inquiry into the circumstance is for now ongoing, the victim has been described as a white male whose name is being held back, pending the notification of his family, as reported by Thunder Radio. With no immediate indicators of foul play, the officials, who were waiting at the scene for the deputies to arrive, are processing preliminary evidence.
Chief Deputy Frank Watkins with the Coffee County Sheriff’s Department confirmed to WKRN that the early evidence gathered does not point to any criminal wrongdoing. However, additional information has been scant with authorities declining to release further details at this time.
