
Officers from the Boston Police District B-3 apprehended two individuals, identified as Markeith Walton, 21, and Robert Scott, 26, on Tuesday night after they responded to a call about persons with guns at 33 Stanton Street, Mattapan, according to a report released by the Boston Police Department. Upon arrival, police witnessed a group of four men around two parked vehicles, where two men brandished firearms and attempted to evade the officers when approached, one of the vehicles nearly injured an officer while escaping from the scene.
The incident, which took place close to midnight, escalated as the suspects attempted to flee, with two jumping over a fence toward Norfolk Street, another entering a vehicle and speeding towards the officers, striking one who fortunately sustained only non-life-threatening injuries; meanwhile, officers managed to arrest Walton inside the parking lot. Boston Emergency Medical Services attended to the injured officer, who was taken to a nearby hospital for further care.
One of the suspects, Walton, was found in possession of a firearm when apprehended near 234 Norfolk Street, shortly after the chase commenced, complementing the department's swift response, officers discovered two additional firearms: one inside the abandoned second vehicle and another in a nearby wooded area, a Polymer 80, a Smith and Wesson M&P, and a Glock 43, all equipped with ammunition were collected as evidence.
Following the arrests and recovery of weapons, Walton faces multiple charges, including Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Ammunition, a Large Capacity Feeding Device, and Trespassing; he also had an outstanding warrant related to prior firearm offenses, according to the police statement. Scott was charged with Trespassing, both are set to be arraigned at Dorchester District Court in connection with the Mattapan incident.
