The Boston Police Department brought the community together for a day of sports, snacks, and sunshine during their recent “Field Day Friday” at White Stadium in Franklin Park. The event saw the gathering of members from the BPD Command Staff, District B-2 officers, and various community and school engagement programs as they engaged with local youth through a variety of traditional field day activities.
From kickball to tug-of-war and jump rope, both kids and officers were seen thoroughly enjoying the friendly competition and the chance to strengthen community bonds. According to a post on the Boston Police Department's website, "The energy was high as both kids and officers enjoyed the friendly competition!"
In addition to the sporting events, attendees were treated to pizza from Papa Gino’s, sponsored by BFCU, and classic ice cream sandwiches handed out from the BPD ice cream truck, with special thanks going to HP Hood and the Boston Police Foundation for their contributions.
The police department seems determined to regularly reach out and positively engage with the community, with an announcement of intent to continue these events. The next "Field Day Friday" is already scheduled to take place in East Boston, signaling a continuation of efforts by the BPD to build and maintain a relationship with the community they serve.
