An incident occurred late Tuesday night in Boston's Dorchester neighborhood where a Boston Police Department officer was hit by a car while responding to a call involving armed individuals. As reported by Boston 25 News, two suspects have since been arrested and three firearms have been seized.

The episode unfolded when officers responded to a report of persons with guns outside St. Matthew’s Church at 33 Stanton Street around 11:30 p.m. According to NBC Boston, upon their arrival, officers encountered four men near two parked vehicles, two of which attempted to flee by jumping over a fence while another entered a vehicle, speeding towards officers, which struck and injured one officer.

The injured officer was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries. In a statement obtained by WCVB, authorities said that "The vehicle accelerated toward officers at a high rate of speed, striking one officer and forcing him onto the hood before he rolled off the side."

Among the arrested was Markeith Walton, 21, of Marlborough, reportedly found in possession of a firearm. The other, Robert Scott, 26, of Mattapan, was apprehended in the parking lot. In their possession, officers found a Polymer 80 with a round in the chamber, a Smith and Wesson M&P also with a round chambered and six rounds in the magazine, and a Glock 43 with six rounds in the magazine. While two suspects were captured, there was no word on the two suspects who evaded initial detainment but search was ongoing.

The suspects arrested, namely Walton and Scott, are slated to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court on respective charges including firearms and trespassing for Walton, and firearm and home invasion for Scott, as stated by Boston Police Department.
