Boston Police executed a traffic stop on Friday that led to an arrest and the confiscation of a firearm and narcotics. Officers from the Youth Violence Strike Force noticed a vehicle on Blue Hill Avenue and Talbot Avenue in Dorchester. The car attracted attention for not having an inspection sticker and for making erratic lane changes. A report released by Boston Police Department detailed the arrest of 25-year-old Kelvin Ortiz-Guerrero.
Upon initiating a traffic stop, police described both occupants as "extremely nervous," with the driver, specifically, unable to answer basic questions while sweating profusely. The passenger exhibited similarly suspicious behavior as he adjusted his seating position. These observations prompted a further search by police. During the pat frisk of the vehicle, officers uncovered a Springfield Hellcat handgun with a defaced serial number and twelve rounds in the magazine. In the search that ensued, officers also found five bags containing fentanyl, a scale, and one live round of ammunition.
Ortiz-Guerrero now faces multiple charges including Unlawful Possession of Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, Unlawful Possession of a Large Capacity Feeding Device, Defacement of a Firearm Serial Number, and Trafficking of Class A substance. The Dorchester resident is scheduled for arraignment at Dorchester District Court.
