A hit-and-run crash on SR-4 westbound in Brentwood led to major injuries for four passengers yesterday. The incident, which involved a burgundy Toyota Tacoma and an at-large dark pickup truck, occurred just west of Lone Tree Way at around 1:02pm, the CHP Contra Costa reported.
The Tacoma, driven by an adult male and carrying four adult female passengers, was sideswiped by the dark pickup truck when it made an unsafe lane change. The collision forced the Tacoma off the road, causing it to overturn multiple times in the grassy center divider. While fleeing the scene, the dark pickup truck, last seen heading westbound on SR-4, had a trailer in tow.
Despite the chaos, the driver of the Tacoma emerged without injury. However, his four passengers weren't as fortunate; all suffered injuries, with one requiring an airlift to the hospital. The others were transported by ambulance. All injured parties are expected to make full recoveries, the post reassured. It was noted that everyone in Tacoma had been properly seat-belted during the incident.
It remains undetermined whether alcohol played a role in the crash or if the driver of the dark pickup truck wore a seatbelt. "This crash is still under investigation", stated the CHP Contra Costa. Any witnesses to the crash or those with information or dash-cam footage are urged to contact the CHP Contra Costa in Martinez at (925) 646-4980 or via email at [email protected].
