Chandler's Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Division, along with the city's Human Relations Commission, are again paving the way for community involvement with the launch of their latest funding opportunities, aimed at promoting DEI among youth and at city events, as noted in a recent announcement. Educational mini-grants of up to $1,000 are now available and are targeting programs that support DEI for young people between the ages of 5-18. Chandler-based educators, schools, nonprofits, and community groups providing services locally are encouraged to apply, provided their proposals align with the city's DEI mission, "To cultivate a community and municipal organization that embraces diversity to create a more inclusive and equitable place to live, work and thrive," according to the information made available on Chandler's official website.
Funding through these grants is not a new concept for the city; rather, it's part of an ongoing effort to reinforce its commitment to creating a more inclusive environment. To get a piece of this financial pie, applicants can glean more details and submit their proposals online via the Chandler Diversity Funding Opportunities page. Additionally, the DEI Event Sponsorship Program, currently in its second year, seeks to support new or emerging DEI events in the region. Notably, organizations that received a nod last year with sponsorship awards, are eligible again this round for the fiscal embrace of year two.
Those interested in applying for the DEI Event Sponsorship Program should plan ahead, as the pilot program has two critical application periods. The first round of submissions is due by October 2024 for events scheduled throughout the incoming year, January to December 2025. The second deadline is set for April 1, 2025, accommodating events earmarked for the latter half of the year, from July to December 2025. To stay ahead, organizations and groups can visit the Chandler Diversity Funding Opportunities page for guidelines, as outlined by the city.
