Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department's Homicide Unit is actively investigating a death that was recently declared a homicide on Werburgh Street. The incident took place in the 5500 block of Werburgh Street, located in the Providence Division, as reported by the CMPD Newsroom.
It was on Sunday, July 14, when officers from the Providence Division were called to the scene shortly before 1:30 p.m. to address a death investigation. Having processed the scene to collect physical evidence, the Crime Scene Search unit responded alongside Homicide Unit detectives. On the following day, after conversation with the Mecklenburg County Medical Examiner’s Office, the CMPD confirmed the incident as a homicide.
During this active investigation, the CMPD has collaborated with multiple agencies, including the Charlotte Fire Department and MEDIC, as well as their own Victim Services and Operations Command.
