
Chicago authorities have recently brought multiple charges against an individual in connection to a series of burglaries and robberies that targeted various local businesses. According to a report by the Chicago Police Department, Joachim Nwachukwu, a 33-year-old resident of the 6000 block of N. Sheridan Rd., is facing a number of felony and misdemeanor charges.
The charges against Nwachukwu include six felony counts of robbery, six felony counts of burglary, and one misdemeanor count of criminal trespass to real property. Nwachukwu's apprehension came at the hands of the Citywide Robbery Task Force, on July 23, 2024. The task force picked him up in the 6500 block of S. Lowe, and further investigations led to his identification as the suspect involved in incidents that spanned from February to June of this year. Incidents for which, he is charged occurred at three businesses specifically in the 200 block of W. Adams, the 100 block of W. Adams both in the 1st District, and the 900 block of W. Diversey in the 19th District.
The accused is also implicated in a criminal trespass incident on July 23, 2024, which took place at a property located in the 6500 block of S. Lowe. Following the arrest, the offender was taken into custody and charged appropriately. Nwachukwu's detention hearing is scheduled for July 25, 2024, at the courthouse on 2600 S. California.
The businesses affected by these burglaries and robberies were hit multiple times with incidents recorded on February 16, 22; 27, March 24; April 3, 9, 17, and May 3 for one of the properties on W. Adams. The second W. Adams location suffered losses on February 24 and April 18, while the W. Diversey address recorded events on May 29 and June 1.
