
Local businesses in Chicago's 014th District are on high alert after a series of overnight burglaries targeting cash, safes, and electronics have shaken the area. The Chicago Police Department issued a business alert, urging proprietors to bolster their security measures following multiple incidents involving shattered glass entry points by way of a tire iron. The acts of theft, attributed to a group using a black Infiniti sedan with no visible registration, took place between the waning hours of June 29 and the early morning of June 30.
As reported by the Chicago Police Department, specific locations hit by the perpetrators include the 2400 West Block of Division St at exactly 3:08 a.m., and within less than two hours, similar break-ins occurred on the 2500 North Block of Kedzie Ave at 4:41 a.m., on the 3100 West Block of Armitage Ave at 4:47 a.m., and again on the 2600 West Block of Division St at 4:53 a.m., businesses in these areas are now grappling with the aftermath, some considering the installation of ArmorPlast to protect against future intrusions, the police have not provided any further leads on the suspects who are at large.
The suspects, reportedly four African American males between the ages of 16 and 25, were seen wearing dark clothing, masks, and gloves during the robberies, a description provided by the Chicago Police Department in their public notification.
