Chicago businesses are on high alert as a series of robberies have hit the 003rd, 004th, and 005th districts during operating hours, with a knife-wielding individual targeting cash registers.
According to the Chicago Police Department's business alert, the string of incidents started on June 26 and continued through late July, hitting multiple locations including the 200 block of East 103rd St, 10800 block of South Doty Rd, which has been targeted thrice, and other nearby streets; video evidence of the offender is available for viewing.
The suspect in question appears to be a male African American, distinguished by glasses and dreadlock-style hair, in addition to a noticeable tattoo on his left arm. Local businesses are urged to remain vigilant, enhance security measures by installing lights and surveillance systems, and consider adding tracking devices to merchandise.
In the event of a robbery, the police have advised to immediately call 911 so that the crime scene can be appropriately processed by an Evidence Technician.
