The victims, all hailing from Manteca, included a couple in a dating relationship and their child. The adult male, still struggling in critical condition at the hospital, was extracted from the fiery wreckage by courageous first responders. The 24-year-old female was pronounced dead at the scene, having perished in the accident while the vehicle was ablaze. The Livermore Police Department revealed that the crash took place just north of Las Positas Road while the vehicle was heading northbound, veering off the road for reasons not yet known.
While the cause of the tragic event is under ongoing investigation, early speculation as to what led the black Hyundai off the road has not precluded the potential involvement of narcotics or alcohol. With the identity of the victims withheld, pending family notification, the Alameda County Coroner’s Bureau has been engaged in the somber work of managing the aftershocks, poised to shed light on who these individuals were.
