
Authorities have apprehended Jean Carlos Rodriguez Colmenarez, 29, following a shooting in Cicero, Illinois that left a 29-year-old woman seriously injured. According to the Chicago Police Department's press release, Colmenarez faces severe felony charges, including first-degree attempted murder, aggravated battery with a firearm, and aggravated unlawful use of a weapon without a Firearms Owner's Identification (FOID).
The arrest occurred on July 8, 2024, when Colmenarez was located in the 600 block of S. Newport in Pontiac, subsequent to the shooting in the 400 block of N. Lawndale.
The details surrounding the altercation remain sparse, with the Chicago Police Department withholding additional information pending investigation. However, the incident raises familiar concerns about gun violence in the area and the ongoing struggle to keep the streets safe.
The suspect's detention hearing is set to be held today, July 11, 2024, at the courthouse located at 2600 S. California.
