The Clarksville Police Department is actively searching for 18-year-old Kwamey Sykes after his failed appearance before the Montgomery County Circuit Court on July 19, as reported by FOX 17. Sykes is facing charges including especially aggravated robbery, attempted first-degree murder, and possession of a firearm in the commission of a dangerous felony related to a July 2023 shooting incident.
A $200,000 bond has been set following the issuance of an arrest warrant for Sykes, who originally posted a $50,000 bond after being booked into Montgomery County Jail in November 2023. In this case, where a teen was shot on Eagles Bluff Drive the prior year, "Kwamey Sykes was 17 years old at the time of the shooting and was transferred to adult status," as detailed by WSMV.
Police are urging anyone with information regarding Sykes' whereabouts immediately to call 911. The Clarksville Montgomery County Crime Stoppers has also been enlisted for tips, promising anonymity and a potential cash reward for valuable information that could lead to his arrest.
Evidence regarding the investigation into the shooting was presented during the June 2024 Montgomery County Grand Jury session, according to information from Clarksville Online. Sykes, now considered a fugitive, has been the subject of an intensified search effort by local authorities since his failure to appear in court. "Anyone with information on the location of Kwamey Sykes is asked to call 911 immediately," Detective Adair at 931-648-0656, ext. 5188, or visit the tip submission website at P3tips.com/591 for those seeking to provide anonymous information.
