The incident occurred as the man ventured into the woods searching for his cell phone on Thursday night, with the rescue taking place in the early hours of Friday morning, according to FOX 5 Atlanta.
Concern grew when the individual did not return from the woods, initiating a family search and subsequent police involvement. Found were the man's vehicle and audible cries for help in the desolate expanse, an environment seemingly void of mercy for the unprepared wanderer. His son had reported him missing the same night after the son's father had set out to retrieve the lost phone earlier and never came home, 11Alive reported.

Steve Bennett of Cobb County Fire and Emergency Services mentioned, "At night in the darkness, if you don't have a good flashlight it is very easy to accidentally find a hole, fall down a slope. You know, the woods are not kind if you don't have a flashlight," in a statement procured by FOX 5 Atlanta.
