Yesterday, a Coconut Creek man was formally charged with a pair of bank robberies that took place in Boca Raton and Delray Beach. Courtney Mallory, 44, is accused of robbing a Truist bank on State Road 441 on June 5 and a Bank of America on Jog Road on July 12, according to a press release from the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Florida. Both incidents involved Mallory allegedly brandishing what seemed to be a firearm and escaping with thousands of dollars.

During the June incident, Mallory reportedly wore a mask and forced employees to access the bank vault before fleeing in a dark blue Nissan. In the subsequent robbery, reported to have struck again, similarly disguised and armed, absconding with more money. Both times, Mallory was seen leaving the scene in the same dark blue Nissan.

Federal agents took Mallory into custody at his residence on July 17. In the process, they seized clothing, a backpack, a black pellet gun, and cash linked to the robberies. Some of the recovered bills were wrapped with bands from the respective banks that were targeted.

Mallory had his first day in court yesterday in West Palm Marlo Federal Court. He's scheduled to be back on July 25 for a pretrial detention hearing. U.S. Attorney Markenzy Lapointe; FBI Special Agent in Charge Jeffrey Veltri; and Palm Beach Sheriff’s Office Sheriff Ric Bradshaw were the officials announcing the charges.

Further details on the case and updates can be found on the website of the U.S. Attorney’s Office and the District Court for the Southern District of Florida.
