Sebastian Ernesto Lombano Jaramillo, a 41-year-old massage therapist from Coconut Creek, has been charged with sexual battery after an incident during an at-home massage session in Plantation in January. According to WSVN, the client, a new mother who had hired Jaramillo for a postpartum massage, filed a complaint with the Plantation Police Department stating that Jaramillo sexually assaulted her. The accused faces two counts of sexual battery and has been given a $70,000 bond with the condition that he cannot practice massage therapy should he post bond.
In a recorded phone call secured by the authorities, Jaramillo admitted to the misconduct and expressed remorse. "I got carried away, I recognize my mistake" and "I'm terribly sorry, you have no idea," Jaramillo stated, according to a police warrant referred by Local 10. The report details that the massage began normally but escalated when Jaramillo initiated non-consensual sexual acts, including oral sex. The victim reported that she was in "shock" during the assault and attempted to feign an orgasm to make the therapist stop.
Further reviewed text messages showed that after the incident, the victim confronted Jaramillo about his actions. "Sebastian, today should not have happened. I allowed myself to be in a compromised position and should have spoken up about my discomfort when things crossed a line," the victim wrote. She added, "Please be aware of what you are doing and to whom," highlighting the lack of clear consent, as Local 10 reported. Jaramillo responded with an apology and sent a $440 refund to the victim.
After the charges were made, Jaramillo was arrested on Wednesday and remains held on bond at the Broward Main Jail. The incident has brought to light the critical issue of professional boundaries and the importance of explicit consent within therapeutic settings. The case is ongoing, and further details may emerge as it progresses through the justice system.
