
A serious incident involving the Alameda County Sheriff's Office unfolded on Wednesday morning, leaving a deputy seriously injured. According to the Alameda County Sheriff's Office, the encounter occurred in the Ashland area of unincorporated San Leandro as the Auto Theft Task Force sought to apprehend two suspects in stolen vehicles. During the apprehension, with the deputies from Eden Township Substation assisting, they were confronted by one suspect who used the stolen vehicle as a weapon, striking the deputy and causing significant injuries before fleeing the scene.
The Sheriff's Office reported that the deputy, whose identity was not disclosed, was rushed to the hospital and is receiving medical attention necessary for recovery. Transported to the hospital, the deputy survived this encounter. The Sheriff's Office has declared the investigation to be active and ongoing.
In the aftermath, two suspects believed to be involved were taken into custody. The names and the precise roles they may have played in the felony assault have not been released.
