Tragedy struck last week in Detroit when a 20-year-old man was fatally wounded in what has been described as a drive-by shooting. According to CBS News Detroit, the victim, identified as Trevion Ward, was targeted on Thursday, July 18, at approximately 1:19 p.m. in the 19900 block of Omira Street. The suspected vehicle, a blue sedan, was seen traveling southbound when the assailant fired multiple shots at Ward.
Despite the quick arrival of emergency services, their efforts to render aid to the young man were in vain, as Ward succumbed to his injuries at the scene. As witnesses to the incident report, standing outside at the time of the shooting were multiple people, inclusive of children, with the porch of a home nearby where Ward was sitting, as per an article on WWJ Newsradio. The Detroit Police Department has not released any potential motives behind the shooting and continues to investigate.
Both Detroit police and the community are now seeking justice for Ward, as the investigation into his killing continues. The police have extended a call for any tips that could lead to the identification and apprehension of the suspect involved.
