A high-speed pursuit unfurled in the streets of Oakland last week when California Highway Patrol officers spotted a white Mercedes-Benz blasting through a red light. According to the CHP Oakland, the chase began near Hegenberger Road south of Interstate 880 last Wednesday.
The attempt by officers to stop the speeding vehicle resulted in the driver hitting the gas, leading to a pursuit that included a detour off-road before returning to urban roads at Edes Avenue and Enterprise Way. The pursuit finally concluded when the Mercedes became disabled, forcing it to stop, allowing CHP to apprehend the suspect without further incident.
The driver was then booked at Berkeley Jail on charges of felony evading.
