
Early on the morning of July 19, a Glen Burnie neighborhood was alerted to a potential thief in their midst. According to a post by the Anne Arundel County Police Department, at around 4:40 a.m., officers responded to a report of a suspicious person trying to enter vehicles along Ridgely Road and Old Stage Road. The individual, later identified as Julian Christopher Wise, a 35-year-old man from Edgewater, Maryland, attempted to flee on foot upon the arrival of law enforcement.

The suspect proved to be elusive initially but didn’t manage to evade the police for long. In a statement shared by the police department, officers diligently monitored the vicinity, laying their eyes on the suspect again at 6:35 a.m. as he came out from a yard. A chase ensued, resulting in finally apprehending Wise after a relentless foot pursuit. On his person, officers discovered money and various gift cards, believed to be taken from the vehicles he had accessed.
Wise is currently in custody as the police work assiduously to return the stolen items to their rightful owners. The Anne Arundel County Police Department used this incident to remind locals of the evergreen advice: always lock your car doors and make sure to secure or remove valuables, a preventative measure against opportunistic crimes.
