On July 19, a routine traffic stop in Glen Burnie led to more than just a citation for a 24-year-old Ellicott City man. According to a press release from the Anne Arundel County Police Department, Darion Montez Straughn was arrested after officers discovered he had an active arrest warrant.
The stop which occurred midday near Elvaton Road and Silent Breeze Court, turned up a loaded handgun and what officers believe to be a sizable amount of cannabis, approximately 288 grams after Straughn was taken into custody a search of his gray 2024 Honda revealed the contraband. The nature of the warrant for Straughn's arrest was not specified in the report provided by police officials.
Straughn, described as a 24-year-old male from Ellicott City, Maryland, is currently facing unspecified charges. The Anne Arundel County Police Department has not released further details about the charges or the circumstances surrounding the initial traffic stop that led to Straughn's arrest.
