An investigation is underway after a man was fatally shot in Portland's Rose City Park neighborhood last night. According to the Portland Police Bureau, officers from the North Precinct, East Precinct, and the Focused Intervention Team responded to reports of a shooting near Northeast 55th Avenue and Northeast Hassalo Street at approximately 11:30 p.m.

The victim, an unidentified male, was discovered with life-threatening injuries following the shooting and later succumbed to those injuries at an area hospital. As of now, no suspects are in custody, and the detectives are asking for anyone with information to come forward and assist with the ongoing investigation. As the PPB Homicide detectives worked through the clues, certain streets were temporarily shut down affecting the flow of traffic. Northeast Hassalo Street was closed between Northeast 55th Avenue, and Northeast 57th Avenue, along with a section of Northeast 55th Avenue between Northeast Hassalo Street and Northeast Irving Street.

The victim's identity along with the cause of death will be announced pending the confirmation of the Medical Examiner and the notification of next of kin. Further updates will be shared by the police bureau, as they become appropriate.
