Spice enthusiasts and ice cream aficionados in Katy have reason to explore the local culinary scene with the opening of two new eateries boasting extreme flavors and a plethora of options. Houston TX Hot Chicken, known for its spicy poultry offerings, has opened its doors at LaCenterra, while Bruster’s Real Ice Cream now serves up over 150 flavors of handcrafted ice cream at their location on FM 1463.
The fast-casual hot chicken restaurant, which celebrated its grand opening on June 15, is a franchise owned by Phillip Perez. Guests at Houston TX Hot Chicken can choose their chicken to be as mild or as scorching as they prefer, with the high-end heat option “Houston We Have a Problem” requiring a waiver before consumption. Perez expressed his enthusiasm about the eatery’s reception, “We’ve been blown away by the response since our soft opening on June 1,” Perez told the Houston Chronicle. “Guests are falling in love with our fresh ingredients, unforgettable flavors and fun vibe,” he added.
The restaurant’s founder, Edmond Barseghian, emphasizes the quality of the chicken served, describing it as organic, never frozen, and raised without antibiotics, hormones, or cages. The company, founded in 2021, extends its reach across six states, providing an assortment of hot-chicken sandwiches, tenders, salads, and unique signature sauces.
On the sweeter side of things, Bruster’s Real Ice Cream opened its doors on June 21 and has quickly become a destination for dessert lovers. They offer a vast selection of more than 150 ice cream flavors, including non-dairy and vegan options. The company’s commitment to freshness is evident, as they churn their own ice cream on-site, yielding a "thick, creamy and fresh" experience, according to a release from the company. In addition to scoops, Bruster's menu expands into custom desserts, sundaes, and milkshakes.
