A harrowing scene unfolded in Brighton Park late Monday night when four pedestrians were injured as a driver in a stolen SUV attempted to flee a traffic stop. According to The Chicago Tribune, the ordeal began just before 11:30 p.m. in the 2500 block of West 46th Street when the driver of a black Dodge Durango reversed into a police car to evade officers. This initiated a reckless getaway attempt that resulted in additional collisions with two other vehicles.

The CBS News Chicago reported that among those struck were three women, and an 8-year-old girl who was treated immediately on the scene by the Chicago Fire Department. The severity of this incident could not be understated, as the driver seemed heedless of the well-being of those in their path. The pursuit's dangerous escalation, not only jeopardized the lives of the pedestrians but, also resulted in injuries sustained by a police officer involved in the initial traffic stop.

As the aftermath of the crash was assessed, emergency personnel rushed the adult victims to local hospitals. As per the Chicago Tribune, two of the women were taken to Holy Cross Hospital and the third to Mt. Sinai Hospital, where they were later reported to be in good condition.

The authorities have since taken one person into custody, with detectives continuing their investigation into the incident, the Chicago Tribune noted.
