New details have emerged regarding former Clark County Sheriff Jamey Noel's alleged misuse of public funds. According to recently released court documents, Noel is accused of spending over $60,000 of Utica Township Volunteer Firefighters Association funds on flights for his family members and for an extramarital affair with former Clark County Councilwoman Brittney Ferree. As reported by WTHR, the Indiana State Police investigators discovered that Noel and Ferree used these funds to take at least three trips together.
These documents reveal a deeper entanglement of Noel's personal life with the public role he was trusted to serve. The romance between Noel and Ferree spanned from 2019 to 2022 and resulted in the birth of a child. In the wake of these revelations, Noel faces 31 felony charges and currently remains in custody on a $1.5 million bond, an amount that was increased in June after additional charges were brought forward by the state. According to WHAS11, Noel's wife Misty is also facing charges linked to this case.
Further incriminating details were also brought to light showing that Noel used the association's money to pay for flights to New York City, New Orleans, and Tampa. Beyond personal travel expenses, he is also accused of using public funds to pay thousands in child support. WLKY reported that along with the expenditures on travel and family obligations, Noel, his wife, and his daughter Kasey are alleged to have misappropriated millions of dollars from the fire and EMS departments that he oversaw.
